Boca Raton hospital commute guide for shift workers

Boca Raton hospital commute guide for shift workers

For the shortest likely commute to Boca Raton Regional Hospital, start your search in 33486, the hospital’s own ZIP code. Among the three ZIPs compared here, 33433 has the lowest typical rent. Consider 33432 if east-Boca living and downtown access are worth the largest rent premium.

For nurses, technicians and other shift workers, 33486 is a practical default because it balances proximity and price. A renter who works nights and travels outside peak traffic, however, may save substantially in 33433 while keeping the commute manageable.

Why this hospital housing question matters now

A major expansion is approaching

Boca Raton Regional Hospital is preparing to open the Gloria Drummond Patient Tower as part of a reported $1.1 billion expansion. Healthcare Design reports that the project adds 216 private patient rooms and 20 surgical suites.

A larger clinical campus can change how many people arrive for work, treatment, deliveries and visits. More activity is reasonable to anticipate, but renters should not assume a specific hiring total or traffic increase unless the hospital publishes one.

Hospital workers define convenience differently

A conventional commuter might tolerate a delayed morning twice a week. A bedside nurse reporting before handoff has less room for delay, as does an imaging technician covering an early appointment block or a laboratory employee starting overnight.

The best Boca Raton neighborhoods for hospital workers are not necessarily the trendiest. A useful test is whether a home provides a repeatable route, legal overnight parking, quiet conditions for daytime sleep and a backup way to reach the campus during heavy rain or after a crash.

Start with the hospital campus, not a neighborhood name

The address and surrounding roads

Baptist Health lists Boca Raton Regional Hospital at 800 Meadows Road, Boca Raton, FL 33486. The official campus map places the complex between Glades Road, Meadows Road, Northwest 13th Street and Northwest 7th Avenue.

Glades Road is the obvious east-west approach for many renters, though it should not be the only plan. Depending on the home, an alternate route may use Palmetto Park Road, Camino Real, Military Trail, Powerline Road, Federal Highway or Interstate 95. Test the whole trip instead of judging a rental by its straight-line distance from the hospital.

Include parking in the commute

The official campus parking map distinguishes patient, visitor, physician and employee areas. It also identifies additional employee parking at the Sandler Garage behind the Mobil station at 660 Glades Road and gives 561-955-7233 for parking questions.

Ask your supervisor or staffing contact which entrance and employee lot apply to your assignment. Time the trip to your actual parking space, including the walk or shuttle, rather than stopping the calculation at the Meadows Road address.

Shift time can change the result

A west-Boca address may work well before sunrise and feel quite different during a conventional morning commute. A home east of Interstate 95 may appear close on a map but require several signal cycles along Glades Road.

Run at least two tests. For the first, arrive 15 to 20 minutes before your normal report time. For the second, leave after handoff. Those windows are planning allowances, not estimated drive times.

What the August 2026 rent data says

Comparing the ZIP codes

The figures below come from Zillow’s August 2026 ZIP-level ZORI file. Zillow describes ZORI as a smoothed measure of typical observed market-rate rent, weighted to represent the rental housing stock. It is an index, not a quote for a particular apartment, townhouse or house.

ZIP codeAugust 2026 ZORIDifference from 33433Practical hospital-worker tradeoff
33433$2,541.70BaselineLowest typical rent, with a longer western approach to test
33486$2,894.79$353.09 more per monthHospital’s ZIP and the strongest starting point for commute convenience
33432$3,121.02$579.32 more per monthEast-Boca and downtown access at the highest typical rent

The gaps are calculated from those three Zillow values. Over a 12-month budget, 33486’s index is $4,237.08 above 33433, while 33432’s is $6,951.84 above 33433. The difference between 33432 and 33486 is $226.23 per month, or $2,714.76 across 12 months.

How to use the index

Do not read $2,894.79 as the expected rent for every home in 33486. Zillow’s methodology explains that ZORI measures asking-rent changes with a repeat-rent approach, applies housing-stock weights and smooths the result with a three-month moving average.

Use the index to understand the broad price tradeoff, then compare actual candidates with the same bedroom count, property type, condition and included services. A small apartment and a detached home are not interchangeable simply because they share a ZIP.

33486: a middle ground for the commute

Why it is a sensible starting point

The hospital is in 33486, removing one large variable from the search. Depending on the exact address, central-Boca locations may provide approaches using Glades Road, Palmetto Park Road, Military Trail, Northwest 12th Avenue and local streets.

At an August 2026 ZORI of $2,894.79, 33486 is not the least expensive option. The reason to pay more than in 33433 is the prospect of a simpler, more resilient commute.

What to inspect before signing

A central location does not guarantee quiet sleep. Visit during the hours when you expect to rest. Listen for landscaping crews, school traffic, pool activity, nearby rail horns and ongoing construction.

Confirm that your assigned parking space remains available overnight. Also check whether association rules require frequent guest-pass renewals for a partner, caregiver or visiting family member. When comparing home layouts, the Helsinki Circle Lakeview Home page is one local three-bedroom example that can serve as a feature checklist, not a statement of current availability.

33433: the western choice for a tighter budget

What the savings can cover

ZIP 33433 has the lowest August 2026 ZORI in this comparison at $2,541.70. Its $353.09 monthly index advantage over 33486 could go toward commuting costs, renter’s insurance, blackout shades, backup internet or an emergency fund.

This ZIP includes areas around Boca del Mar and portions of the Powerline Road, Palmetto Park Road and Camino Real corridors. Pay attention to the exact block because two homes in the same ZIP may feed into different major roads.

Who should consider it

33433 is most likely to suit a worker whose shift avoids the busiest traffic, who puts the housing budget ahead of east-Boca access and who finds a property with more than one practical route to the campus.

A map application’s best-case result is not enough. Drive from the candidate property to the employee entrance on a weekday at your reporting hour. Repeat the return trip when your shift normally ends.

33432: east-Boca convenience at a premium

What renters get

ZIP 33432 covers downtown and nearby east-Boca areas, with access to Federal Highway, Palmetto Park Road, Mizner Park and the coast. For a worker who values downtown dining, Brightline access or living east of Interstate 95, those benefits may justify the price.

The August 2026 ZORI is $3,121.02, the highest of the three. That is $226.23 above 33486 and $579.32 above 33433 each month.

Why east does not always mean easier

The hospital is west of Interstate 95, so an east-Boca renter still has to cross or approach the interchange area. Even a short trip can become less predictable when bridge traffic, downtown activity or congestion near the highway affects the route.

Before paying the premium, decide what 33432 would improve in your daily life outside work. If you rarely use its downtown, rail or coastal access, 33486 may provide more commute value for the rent.

A shift-worker test before applying

Drive the route at reporting time

  1. Enter the hospital’s employee entrance or garage, not just “Boca Raton Regional Hospital,” as the destination.
  2. Leave the candidate home on the same weekday and at the same time you would normally report.
  3. Include parking, the walk to your unit and enough time to store personal items or change clothes.
  4. Repeat the trip after rain, if possible, and find a route that does not depend on the same major intersection.
  5. Drive home near your usual release time, keeping in mind that handoff can run late.

Check parking at both ends

Ask hospital staffing which employee lot applies to your role and whether overflow arrangements change by shift. The parking categories on the campus map show why a general question about parking at the hospital will not tell you enough.

At the rental, get the overnight rules in writing. Check assigned spaces, garage clearance, towing procedures and guest parking. If you have a work vehicle with lettering, ask whether the landlord or association allows it.

Prepare for heavy rain and hurricane season

October remains within Atlantic hurricane season. Check the property’s entrances after a hard rain and ask whether the garage or access road has a drainage history. Research the specific address through the official FEMA Flood Map Service Center.

Ask who installs shutters, whether a generator is permitted, which appliances it can safely power and how management communicates after a storm. Renter’s insurance should not be assumed to cover flood damage. Policy terms and flood coverage are separate questions for your insurer.

Match the ZIP to the problem

Once you choose a ZIP, compare current homes on the Oasis property page and use our Boca Raton renter guides to research local issues around each candidate. Confirm availability and asking rent directly.

Make a one-page scorecard

Give each property a simple rating for actual door-to-unit travel, monthly housing cost, overnight parking, daytime noise, drainage, backup route, internet and lease flexibility. A renovated kitchen will not solve a commute problem that comes up several times each week.

Which compared ZIP has the lowest typical rent?

ZIP 33433 had the lowest August 2026 Zillow Observed Rent Index at $2,541.70. That was $353.09 below 33486 and $579.32 below 33432.

Is 33432 automatically the easiest commute because it is in east Boca?

No. The hospital is west of Interstate 95, so renters in 33432 still need to test the relevant crossing and Glades Road approach at their actual reporting hour.

What should a night-shift worker check before signing a lease?

Check daytime bedroom noise, blackout-curtain options, overnight parking rules, towing procedures, internet availability, backup power policies and the route home at the normal end of the shift.

How should renters use Zillow’s ZIP-level rent figures?

Use ZORI to compare broad market conditions, not to predict the rent of one home. Compare actual listings with similar bedroom counts, property types, condition and included services.

How can a hospital worker test a commute accurately?

Drive from the candidate home to the assigned employee entrance or garage on the correct weekday at the actual reporting time. Include parking and walking time, then test the return trip near the usual end of the shift.
